Discussion

This is another very popular hymn, and should certainly be in the hymnal.

In verse 2, "there alone stands" sounds to be like a bad accent; "there stands alone" would fix it, but I am inclined to leave it as is (otherwise the alone and "all by herself" are too similar).

I would, however, prefer to change the rhythm as Father Levkulic wrote it down, to make it more evenly duple. (The dotted half note in the first line stands out in the English, whereas in the Slavonic it fits nicely.) Something like this:
