Spiritual songs > Hymns to the Mother of God
Veselisja, vo čistot'i
The text of this hymn to the Mother of God is that of Monsignor William Levkulic, who also published an English translation, Rejoice, O purest Mother
The words of the hymn make it particularly suitable for the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos (August 15).

This hymn was included in the Užhorod Pisennik (1913) as hymn number 120, with six verses for the feast of the Dormition - and three additional verses to the the Virgin of Mariapoch.
In 1969, Father Stefan Papp printed a version of this hymn with text and music (Duchovňi Pisňi, page 89). The four verses correspond roughly to the Užhorod Pisennik's verses 1, 2, and 6 for the Dormition, and the third verse for Mariapoch. Father Papp identified it as the principal hymn for the feast of the Dormition.
In 1978, Monsignor William Levkulic published the first two verses (without music) in The Divine Liturgy, a Book of Prayer. All six verses from the Užhorod Pisennik, with music, were included in the Marian Hymnal (1984).
