At Vespers

music (samohlasen)

At "O Lord, I have cried", there are three stichera for the venerable father.

Tone 2, special melody Jehda ot dreva.  Under the guidance of the Word, * you became a faithful guide, O holy steward Nicetas. * Sowing the good seed of salvation, * gathering in a harvest a hundred-fold, * you brought it to the Lord in joy. * O blessed father, as you stand forever in his presence, *be mindful of your flock which ceaselessly venerates your holy memory.

Gentle and kindly by nature, * you became a warrior fired by zeal for the faith. * Clad in the armor of faith, bearing the lance of asceticism, O Nicetas,* you denounced the blasphemy of heresy. * God-bearing father, you venerated the icon of the Savior * as you followed the rule given by the Fathers.

With bestial cruelty, * the darkest of tyrants imprisoned you * in the most obscure of places in the bitterness of exile. * But paradise dwelt within your heart, * O blessed father Nicetas, * and you suffered joyfully. * You have received the recompense of your labors, * and now you look upon the splendor of God.

Glory, now and ever – Theotokion, or Stavrotheotokion

Troparion,  Tone 8. In you, O father, the divine image was strictly preserved; * taking up your cross, you followed Christ. * You taught us by example how to spurn the flesh, for it passes away, * and how to care for the soul, which is immortal. * Therefore, O venerable Nicetas, your souls rejoices with the angels.
