Having beheld the Resurrection

This prayer (sometimes called the "Hymn of the Resurrection") does not have a traditional prostopinije melody, and in fact the liturgical books appoint it to be read rather than sung. However, since it is an important hymn in honor of our Lord's Resurrection, many parishes have adopted the custom of singing it to a Kievan chant melody in Tone 6.

Here is the melody line, from the Paschal Hours booklet:

Be careful when singing this, since it is written out in C major / A minor (no sharps or flats) rather than one of they key signatures commonly used for prostopinije. The third phrase should sound like it is in a minor key, not a major key.

Kievan chant is usually sung in four-part harmony, which greatly enhances the musical effect of the melodic line. Here is a standard four-part setting from the MCI Paschal Matins book:

Listen to a recording of this setting (with a slightly different text). If you parish has a choir, or a group of regulars who can read music, this is one of the best liturgical hymns to sing in harmony.
