At Vespers

music (samohlasen)

There are six stichera at "O Lord, I have cried": three for the the feast, and three for the martyr.

Tone 4, special melody Dal jesi znamenie.  O Christ, your precious Cross shining as brightly as the sun * is made secure on the glorious place of the skulls. * It is raised up on your most holy mountain, 0 Savior. * Since You are the Lover of mankind, * You have raised up our nature into heaven * through your Cross, O all-powerful One.

O incomprehensible One, * today the heavens have proclaimed your glory to all. * Having brightly illumined the image of the Cross * by your unapproachable splendor, * You exposed the insanity and cruel standards of the enemies of God. * For this reason, we glorify You, * O all-powerful Jesus, Savior of our souls.

By the spreading out of his hands, Moses conquered Amalek. * In this he prefigured the Cross. * We, who now bow down to the Cross, * crush the attacks and craftiness of the enemy. * We are strengthened by Christ the Conqueror * who is raised upon it in the flesh. * He has put the serpent to death and has saved all people.

Tone 4, special melody Jako dobl'a. By the strength of virginity and the blood of martyrdom, * you adorned your soul, O glorious Martyr, * and commended yourself to the Creator. * He truly keeps you incorrupt forever. * In this manner, O praiseworthy one, * you rejoice and sing with the hosts of archangels, * angels, prophets, and martyrs.

You were tied to wheels and torn apart by wild animals * and went through water and fire. * Strengthened by the Holy Spirit, * you courageously strangled the leader of darkness. * By the shedding of your blood, * you entered the spiritual bridal chamber of your Bridegroom. * O virgin, you offered up your sufferings as a dowry.

O Martyr, you died by shedding your blood; * now you are alive to praise the Lord. * You feed and enlighten the faithful with knowledge, * thus drowning the unbelieving enemies. * Therefore, the divine book of Church dogmas is entrusted to you * to keep and guard forever.

Glory – Tone 6.  Having blossomed through good deeds * and having been enlightened through meditation, * you pour out myrrh into the hearts of the faithful. * You glistened from the East like a bright star, * and you brought about an assembly of the Holy Fathers * through the coming of the Holy Spirit. * 0 glorious Euphemia, * pray to the Lord for the salvation of our souls.

Now and ever – Tone 6.  The four corners of the earth are sanctified today, O Christ our God, * by the four ends of your exalted Cross. * With it, exalt your faithful Christians * who destroy the power of the Enemy through your Cross. * You are great, O Lord, and wondrous in your works; glory to You!

The aposticha are for post-feast:

Tone 6, special melody Tridneven. Let us bow down to the place where the feet of Christ stood, * and let us raise up the thrice-blessed Cross. * On it the Master poured out his blood * and brought about the resurrection of the world.

Exalt the Lord, our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

We have overcome the passions of the body and of the spirit. * Let us hasten and rise up from the earth to the heavenly rest * through the raising up of the Cross, * since we have been crucified together with Christ the Master.

God is our king from all ages. He has accomplished salvation in the middle of the earth.

The life-flowing fountain clearly poured out salvation from the divine side, * nourishing the souls * who adore his divine Passion, * the Cross, and the Resurrection in faith.

Glory – Tone 8.  Let every tongue sing the praises of the all-worthy Euphemia. * Let the virgins of every race and age honor Christ's virgin-martyr. * Overcoming weakness, she acted courageously according to the Law. * Through her sufferings she laid low the enemy. * She has been adorned with a heavenly crown * and now prays to the Bridegroom and God to grant us great mercy.

Now and ever – Tone 8.  Of old, Moses prefigured your Cross * while vanquishing Amalek and obtaining victory over him. * David the psalmist called it your footstool * and directed us to adore it. * We sinners indeed venerate your Cross today, O Christ our God. * With our unworthy lips we extol You, * for You deigned to be crucified on it; * and we entreat You, O Lord: * Together with the thief, make us worthy of your kingdom.

The troparia:

Troparion of Euphemia, Tone 4. Your lamb Euphemia, O Jesus, cries out in a loud voice: * I love you, my Bridegroom; I seek you with painful longing. * I am crucified with you; in your baptism, I am buried with you; *I suffer for you that I may reign with you; * and I die for you that I may live with you. * Receive me as a spotless sacrifice immolated with love for you. * By her prayers, O merciful One, save our souls.

Glory, now and ever – Troparion of the Cross, Tone 1.  Save your people, O Lord, and bless your inheritance. * Grant victory to your Church over evil, * and protect your people by your cross.
