Menaion

March 4

Our venerable father Gerasimus of the Jordan, anchorite. At the time of the emperor Zeno, he was brought back to the orthodox faith by St. Euthymius. He engaged in great works of penance, offering to all who practiced the monastic life under him a way of living the most irreproachable discipline. (475)

At "O Lord, I have cried", there are three stichera for the venerable father.

Tone 8, special melody O preslavnoho čudese.  O divinely-wise father Gerasimus, * uniting yourself to God through prayer, * supplication and great abstinence, * you remained impervious to the designs of the foe, * and showed yourself a servant of the Almighty. * and so we honor you, and faithfully celebrating your memory * with great joy, we praise you.

O venerable father Gerasimus, * filled with faith, you sought God * as you dwelt in the mountains, caves, and deserts. * You found him whom your unswerving soul desired, * strengthened by your daily wondrous progress. * You led to Christ as whole troop of monks who found salvation.

Submitting to the commandment of God * who sees all things, * you received from him the grace to work miracles * and to drive away evil spirits, * and to tame wild beasts by the purity of your mind. * Therefore, we honor you, * and, as is fitting, we celebrate with faith * your holy memory, O divinely blessed one.

Glory, now and ever – Theotokion, or Stavrotheotokion
