Spiritual songs >The Hymnal Project

Current version

Here is the version in the Byzantine Catholic Hymnal (2007):

The sentence is passed

Boh predvicnyj

This setting of Uže dekret podpisujet is from the publications of Monsignor William Levkulic. The English translation is by Monsignor Levkulic.

Discussion

This hymn may be an import from the Greek Catholic Church in Galicia (northwest Ukraine); the L'vov Pisnoslovets (1909) gave it as the third hymn of the Great Fast (page 111), with thirteen verses, and in the United States, Father Andrew Sokol printed the first verse (with a slightly different rhythm from that given above) as the only Lenten hymn in his collection Plain Chant (the so-called "blue book").
