Menaion

June 3

The holy martyr Lucillian and his companions. He was an old man, captured with four boys (Claudius, Hypatius, Paul, and Dionysius). They were tied to the stake to be burned. However, rain extinguished the fire. Lucilian was then crucified, and the boys were beheaded, in the reign of the emperor Aurelian. The holy virgin Paula cared for the martyrs in their struggles; she was arrested, taken to Byzantium, and beheaded. (273)

At Vespers

music (samohlasen)

At "O Lord, I have cried": three stichera from the Octoechos, and three for the holy martyrs.

Tone 1, special melody Vsechvalnyj mučenicy. Consumed by jealousy * the deadly children of the murderers of the Lord betrayed you. * Triumphing by your courage, O Lucillian, * you received the joys of Paradise. * Continually intercede * that our souls be given peace and great mercy.

The wondrous and venerable Paula * struggled at your side with faith, * as well as the holy youths who followed you as their father, * O illustrious martyr. * Dwelling with them forever in heaven, entreat Christ * that our souls be given peace and great mercy.

O martyr of many struggles, * your relics daily pour forth streams of healing * for the faithful who have recourse to you. * They wash away the passions * and keep back the harm of the demons * through the help of the Holy Spirit. * Therefore, intercede * that our souls be given peace and great mercy.

Glory, now and ever – Theotokion, or Stavrotheotokion

The aposticha are from the Octoechos.

Troparion,  Tone 4.  Your holy martyrs, O Lord our God, * in their struggles, received an incorruptible crown from you. * With your strength, they brought down the tyrants * and broke the cowardly valor of demons. * Through their prayers, O Christ our God, save our souls.
