PolyeleosThe holy apostle Simon the Zealot, one of the Twelve; also called the “Canaanean.” Tradition tells us that it was Simon who was the bridegroom of the wedding which Jesus attended in Cana of Galilee. He preached the Gospel in Mauretania in Africa, and was finally crucified like his Lord.

Troparion,  Tone 3.  O holy Apostle Simon, intercede with the merciful God * that he may grant our souls forgiveness of sins.

Glory – Kontakion, Tone 2.  With holy hymns we bless Simon as a preacher of God, * who rooted wisdom deeply in the hearts of the pious. * Now he stands before the throne of glory * and rejoices in the company of angels. * He prays unceasingly for all of us.

Prokeimenon, Tone 8 (Ps. 18:5,2). Through all the earth their voice resounds; * their message reaches to the end of the world.
V. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.

Epistle:  1 Corinthians 4:9-16
