This hymn is actually our oldest known prayer to the Mother of God; it is sung at the end of Vespers on fast days, and may also be sung at other times.

There are two officially promulgated English versions of this hymn, found in the back of our Divine Liturgies book, but it would also make sense to include both in the new hymnal. I would really like to have Slavonic versions as well, along with harmonizations of both
